Happy Birthday, Singapore!

Oh gosh! Lucas is not even 2.5 mths and we noticed he already has 2 white dots at the bottom of his jaw. When touched, they feel sharp and hard. No wonder he has been munching on his fist and sucking hard on his thumbs lately, guess he must be feeling very itchy in his mouth. Think I better dig out and wash the teething toys, never knows when he might need them.

Jumping Beans

For the first time, Cadence was doing some beans-scooping activity. She was enjoying transferring the beans from 1 container to another and playing with them with her fingers. Then she started pouring them into the different containers. With the intention to teach her volumn and size, I asked her to pour the beans into a very small cup (cup is too small to contain all the beans). As she was following my instruction, the beans started spilling out from the cup and the whole floor was bouncing with jumping soya-beans. Cadence screamed and leaped around the floor, trying very hard to avoid stepping on the beans. She cried while leaping towards me. Her instant reaction caught me by surprise. I had to comfort and reassure her that the beans would no longer jump after they have stopped. When I brought her to the kitchen to wash her teary face, she asked to be left in the kitchen while I cleared away the beans! After this incident, she refused to touch the beans with her fingers, though she still scooped them around using a spoon.

The above picture was what Cadence saw when the beans dropped and scattered around the floor. They sure looked like little bugs, due to the room’s lighting. No wonder Cadence was so scared then! She is afterall only 2-years plus, and there are so many more things to explore and find out in life. A child’s world is oh-so simple and innocent.

A ‘Good Looks’ tee for Lucas…

…Well guess he didn’t want to look too much like his Mommy!!!

Cadence just insisted feeding her lil’ brother, no matter how hard I tried to reject her. She held Lucas’s bottle for like less than 10 seconds, and pulled it out happily announcing that her Di-Di doesn’t want his milk anymore! She is so funny! Not only did Cadence want to feed Lucas, she also insisted burping him. But I only let her pat his back, while I held Lucas’s head. Cadence just want to imitate everything I’m doing with Lucas.

Light Lunch

Decided to fix Cadence something light for lunch today. In the refrigerator, I had ham, carrots, peas, egg, rasins and cheese. To include carbohydrates, I added in wholemeal bread. Cadence was delighted and WOW at her lunch. She finished everything on the plate, except for the peas which she didn’t like chewing.

Jabs For The Kids

Took the kids for their jabs this afternoon.

Cadence was first. She had the Pneumococcal dose. Before the doctor did anything, she warned that children at Cadence’s age are aware of what injection is all about, and are most likely to cry very badly. She asked if I can handle since I was alone. I didn’t think too much, just ask to doctor to go ahead with the jab. Cadence was very co-operative, she willingly sat at the chair next to the doctor. Doctor told her what she is going to do and use during the whole process. Cadence nodded indicating she understood. Cadence didn’t turn away when the doctor was about to put the needle through her, but the doctor asked her to turn her head eventually. The jab was done in less than a split second, and Cadence didn’t cry or make any noise. She was so so brave! Doctor commented the same too. I was so very proud of her!

Then Lucas had his 1st jab of 6-in-1. Unlike Cadence, he didn’t cry as much and as loud as Jie Jie. He cried when the needle has been injected into his thigh and stopped the moment the needle is pulled out. Not too sure if it is because he is a boy, or because I was carrying him during the injection (Cadence was left lying on the bed back then). Lucas went back to ZZZZ-land before we left the doctor’s room.

So both jabs for the kids went smoothly, and I took them for a mini-shopabout at Compass Point. Mmmm… after today’s experience, I believe Cadence should have no problem with the Chicken-Pox vaccination which I intended to give her on Lucas’s next 6-in-1 visit. =)

Marina Barrage

We had a fun Sunday afternoon stroll at Marina Barrage. It is a dam built across the Marina Channel to create Singapore’s first freshwater urban reservoir. It’ll help Singapore to become self-sufficient in water by 2061 when its water agreement with Malaysia ends. Weather was just nice, not too hot nor did it rain. We saw many beautiful kites and Cadence had a splashing time at the fountain pool (luckily I came prepared with extra clothings).

Our first family outing since I finished my confinement - We went to Singapore Art Museum, showcasing Art Garden for children. The artworks on displayed were inspired by nature, and I found them very creative. There were also hands-on stations where the children can draw and paint. Cadence has so much fun, running around the museum and she kept asking us to bring her here again.

@ 27 months, this was how Cadence drew Daddy kissing Mommy! Noticed that she has included our hands and legs in her drawing now. Errrr… why did she draw daddy with 3 legs??? Well, one of the line was not daddy’s leg - Cadence called it ‘Daddy’s Wee Wee’!
